A follow-up study is also outlined to overcome student biases from previous experiences to more accurately asses their opinions, in particular, concerning the use of active translation activities. Likert surveys were conducted on students at two universities in the greater Tokyo area with one university’s hensachi score about 25 points higher than the other. The students were questioned on their enjoyment of the class and their interest in improvement in both their speaking and translating abilities. It was hypothesized that lower hensachi students with less motivation would prefer more translation style activities, but the results showed little interest in translation from either group.
